Gaura The Bride

Small white flowers open from pale pink buds along fine, wiry wands that never stop moving — the common name is whirling butterflies, and one look on a breezy day explains it. Airy rather than showy, so it softens the gaps between more solid plants and keeps a border from looking blocky. Flowers for months on end from early summer, and shrugs off dry spells without complaint.

A perennial, too — plant once and the clump will return and grow stronger each year.
